š¾ Helping Your Dog Feel at Home
Before we confirm any booking, we invite every new client and their dog(s) to a relaxed, preābooked meet & greet at our home. Itās a licensing requirement, but more importantly, itās a lovely chance for us all to get to know each other. These visits usually last around 30 minutes and give me time to understand your dogās personality, confidence levels, and who theyāll be happiest socialising with.
we initially allow the dogs to meet outside on the driveway and then will go for a short 5 minute walk. If this is successful you'll be invited in to see where your dog will be staying at TED's Home Stay.
š Trial Stays for Peace of Mind
If youāre unsure how your dog will settle, youāre welcome to book a trial day or a oneānight sleepover before your holiday. This can be especially helpful for dogs who are nervous, have separation anxiety, or have never stayed away from home before. A little practice run helps them feel safe and reassured that youāll always come back for them.
ā¤ļø Safety First, Always
Your dogās wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. If I feel that certain dogs may not be a good match together, I may decline a booking to keep everyone safe and happy.
Where ever you want them too - you tell me the routine and TED's Home Stay will follow. Our resident dog sleeps upstairs with us but if your dog is used to sleeping peacefully in the kitchen, snuggling on sofa in the lounge or in their own safe crate space we will follow your requests (just please bring the crate and bedding along with you!) š“
Definitely not!! We are a loving and cosy home from home experience for your dog. We want you to be able to go away with peace of mind your dog is cuddled up on the sofa (if they are allowed!) with us (if they are allowed!) and are having fun whilst you're away.
They have the freedom to roam around the house, access to the garden, sleep when they want and play with toys when they choose. ā„ļø
I can welcome lots of different breeds, but Iām not able to take any dogs that are classed as banned under UK legislation. This is a legal requirement for all licensed home boarders, and it helps keep everyone safe and happy.
If youāre ever unsure about your dogās breed or background, just let me know ā Iām always happy to chat things through.
We have provided a handy guide on what to pack for your dog on the website. Take a look!

In the unfortunate event that your dog falls ill whilst in the care of TED's Home Stay, there will be several steps followed.
1. Immediate Isolation
⢠If your dog shows signs of being unwell, they will be moved to a safe, warm and isolated area of the home immediately. They will be checked on frequently and monitored closely for any signs of deterioration/improvement.
⢠Barrier Nursing precautions will be implemented: food and water bowls washed frequently bedding washed and sanitised and a clean area maintained for the unwell dog to live in along with the use of PPE (aprons and gloves). The area will be regularly sanitised with pet friendly products.
2. Veterinary Consultation
⢠If required your dog will be transported to your own veterinary practice for appropriate investigations and treatment.
⢠If your own vet cannot see your pet in a timely manner then Ted's Home Stay will take the Dog to their registered veterinary practice - Riversmeet Veterinary Centre.
3. Communication and Consent
⢠Contact will be made to yourselves or your designated emergency contact as soon as possible to inform them of the illness. You will receive regular updates on your pets condition.

Yes. At TED's Home Stay, your dog will be the only guest dog boarded at any one time, or two dogs if from the same family home alongside our resident dog, Ted.
This "one-to-one" boarding policy is designed for the following reasons:
⢠Safety and Individual Attention: By hosting only one guest household at a time, we ensure that your dog receives the highest level of supervision and personalized care without the risks or stress associated with multi-dog environments.
⢠Tedās Role: Resident dog Ted serves as a calm, social companion to help guest dogs settle in, while the policy ensures the household remains a peaceful, manageable environment for both him and your pet.
⢠Maintaining Routine: This setup allows us to strictly follow your dog's specific feeding, walking, and sleeping routines, which is often difficult in larger commercial boarding facilities.
Under UK licensing regulations, home boarders who host dogs from different households at the same time must obtain specific written consent from all owners. By focusing on one guest at a time, we prioritize a stress-free experience tailored specifically to your dog's needs.
You must provide a valid vaccination certificate from your vet. Under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018, all licensed boarding facilities in the area regulated by Tamworth Borough Council (https://www.tamworth.gov.uk/licensing/other-licences/animal-welfare)are legally required to verify these records to prevent the spread of disease.
Your dog will need to vaccinated against the Core Diseases: Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis (Adenovirus), Parvovirus and Leptospirosis(L2 or L4) š
Kennel Cough (Bordetella bronchiseptica) is not essential but is recommended
Yes of course! Just like our resident dog Ted is walked daily, yours will too. I tend to take Ted out early morning and then again in the afternoon for a minimum of 30 minutes.
If you are happy for your dog to be off the lead and have signed the consent form (and I am confident with their recall ability) they will get daily off lead fun too.
When staying at TED's Home Stay your dog will wear a separate ID tag with my details on and a light for darker walks.
At weekends when there is more time and daylight hours, we always endeavour to do longer more rural walks with our pup and our boarders.
I have a long lead that can be used for your dog to still be able to explore with a little more freedom.
Your dogās safety always comes first, so we adjust our walks whenever the weather becomes too hot, too cold, or too wild. On very warm days, we head out only during the cooler early mornings or late evenings, choose shaded routes, and keep walks gentle and shorter. If temperatures rise to unsafe levels, we swap outdoor walks for garden time and fun indoor enrichment to avoid any risk of heatstroke, which UK welfare groups warn can develop quickly during hot walks .
In cold, icy, or snowy weather, we shorten walks, stick to safer paths, and pop coats on dogs who feel the chill. Strong winds, storms, or heavy rain may mean staying indoors altogether, with plenty of play, puzzles, and comfort instead. These small adjustments make sure every dog stays happy, healthy, and protectedāwhatever the weather brings.
Should we take your dog in the car I have a variety of car safety harnesses and secure seatbelts to keep them safe and secure.
There will be plenty of fun enrichment activities provided for your dog to play with too and you never know, Eva may have taught them a new trick or two whilst you are away!
In Dosthill, Tamworth. With plenty of walks around us at Cliff lakes, Dosthill park and Kingsbury Water park. At weekends we sometimes go further afield so if your pup is with us they're likely to come along for the ride also!
For short periods of time 3 days a week yes. I work another job part time but am very lucky I get to work at home between my visits and I work locally so i'm never far away. Our Ted is never left alone more than 3 hours during the day.
When I am out of the house the dogs will not be left alone together.
There is a security camera installed in the kitchen area so I can always keep an eye on your pup!
If you only allow your dog specific treats or if they have a food allergy then yes, please bring your own. We have plenty of yummy high quality treats for the dogs though here at TED's Home Stay.
Our Resident Dog Ted is raw fed so raw fed diets are welcomed here at TED's Home Stay. Just please make me aware prior to your arrival so I can make space in my freezer!
Yes, I can certainly administer medication. As a licensed home boarder, I follow strict government guidelines (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/animal-activities-licensing-guidance-for-local-authorities/home-boarding-for-dogs-licensing-statutory-guidance-for-local-authorities)for handling medicines. The medication will need to be in its original packaging with the dosage and administration instructions, and I will keep a detailed log of every dose given to ensure your dog stays on their exact schedule.
Yes! keep an eye on our social pages on Facebook for regular updates. I will always communicate with you personally after your dogs first 24 hours with us to reassure you they are happy and settled and having fun with us at TED's Home Stay. You are welcome to message at any point to check in on your dog also if you want some extra reassurance
We have various sized safety dog harnesses and leads to secure them so all occupants are travelling safely.
If you prefer them to travel in a crate in the boot I will happily oblige. Just please bring this with you.
If you would prefer your dog not to travel or if they suffer with anxiety/sickness in the car please let me know.
